Irene Tagaris for Clarkstown Board of Education Trustees
Irene Tagaris is currently serving her second term as Clarkstown Central School District (CCSD) Board of Education Trustee. Irene is a former NYC public school teacher, teaching at the kindergarten and elementary levels, including five years leading the Gifted and Talented Program at PS 171.
Irene also served as an Adjunct Professor of Education at Hunter College, where she taught Developmental Reading, Teaching Social Studies Through Literature, and The Art of Effective Teaching. She also served as a mentor for student teachers and had the unique opportunity of teaching graduate students pursuing education as their second careers.
While her children were attending school in the CCSD, Irene was actively engaged in the school community. As President of the Strawtown Elementary PTA, she organized book fairs ,Heritage Day celebrations, After School Enrichment Programs, and Teacher Appreciation events. While Co-President of the Clarkstown High School South PTSA, she helped organize health and wellness fairs and the Open to Change/No Place for Hate Program.
With a wide range of experience in education, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to the community, Irene hopes to continue to be a voice for students, parents, faculty, and all members of the CCSD community.
