Christine Alia for Clarkstown Board of Education Trustees
My name is Christine Alia and I am seeking reelection as a Board of Education Trustee in the Clarkstown Central School District(CCSD). I reside in Clarkstown with my husband and children and I am a proud Clarkstown High School North alum. For over 20 years I have been a Middle School Science Teacher in Bergen, NJ.
I have a strong commitment to community involvement. In the CCSD community, I serve as a local Girl Scout Troop leader, have participated in local food and school supply drives, and I am an active member of the PTA. In the district where I am employed, I serve as an advisor for multiple student clubs. Whether it’s my troop, my students or my own children, I strive to instill the importance of giving back.
A board member must be open minded to the needs and perspectives of all students, teachers, staff and parents. It is sometimes difficult to satisfy all of those needs. Having served on the board for six years, I have gained experience in working collaboratively with various stakeholders so that the CCSD can continue to thrive and give our students the best outcomes.
Being both a parent and an educator,I have a unique perspective that allows me to understand all sides of the decisions a board member faces. As a parent, I relate to the struggles that so many experience with having children in elementary and middle school. As an educator, I have experienced the challenges that accompany the profession.
We have dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators who help the CCSD excel on a daily basis, and I am excited to contribute and give back to the district I call home.
